5 Quick Tips for Healthy Hair

  1. Don't over use heat on your hair!

Try to find products and a styling routine that works for your specific hair type that will protect and keep your hair looking and feeling healthy. Using heat on your hair dries it out and makes your hair weak. When you do use heat, try to keep it on the lowest setting or limit how many times you style using heat. Try using a heat protecting product to help maintain the health of your hair as well. We have many products and treatments at our salon to protect your hair to keep it looking great.

2. Keep a healthy hair washing routine.

Washing your hair can be a simple step to keeping your hair healthy. First, make sure you use quality product. Many products available on store shelves are drying or hard on hair. Talk to us today about which product is best for you! We can also explain how to use one of our high quality shampoos or conditioners. It is important to use one that is for your specific hair type. When washing, make sure to apply and massage at the base near the scalp and let the water rinse out toward the ends. Always make sure to use conditioner to lock in moisture and also consider a leave-in conditioner or a styling product after your shower, especially in the dry winter months.

3. Drying your hair

Another step to consider when washing your hair is the drying process. Make sure to not stress your hair while it is wet. It is important to not rub your hair with a towel to dry it. This can create damage from too much physical stress on your hair. Instead, wrap it up in a towel, or let it air dry. Avoid brushing your hair while it is wet as this too can do much more damage to your hair. If you have straight hair, let it dry until damp and then use a wide tooth comb to detangle. If you have curly hair use a wide tooth comb while your hair is wet.

4. Healthy Hair maintenance

It is important to keep your hair healthy with proper styling. It is important to not pull hair back too tightly or with a rubber band that is not covered. This will put too much stress on your hair creating breakage and damage. Use a scrunchie or a clip with a loose hair style. Let your natural hair be your style instead of using curling irons or a straightener. Get regular haircuts to limit breakage of your ends.

TESTIMONIALS

I am so excited to have such a professional salon in Prescott! Just blocks from my home! I had Kathy cut my hair for the first time today. Usually, I come home from getting a haircut and I run into the bathroom to fix it before my husband sees it. I walk in the door today and he is in the other room... he says, how'd it go? I said, "I love her!" I never fixed my hair all day. She is an artist with her scissors and gave me the best haircut I've ever gotten. Such a stress reliever to know that I can go to the Hairitage and get the best professional results just down the road for both my husband and myself. Thank you, Kathy! Prescott is blessed with this professional service in our backyards!
