Simple Ways To Repair Damaged Hair

During the summer, staying out in the sun, swimming in chlorinated pool water, and humidity can influence our hair's health. Many different factors can make your hair turn brittle, frizzy, and damaged. If you are constantly styling your hair, blow drying, curling, and straightening it, your hair probably needs a pick-me-up. Luckily, there are many products and things you can do to repair your damaged hair. Below are some simple ways to rescue your hair.

Alternatives to Heat

Styling your hair is a giant cause of damaged hair. Blow drying and heat are common practices that cause damage. If you need to blow dry or style, make sure to use low heat and try not to over-dry your hair.

If you use a blow dryer, make sure to towel dry or air dry your hair as much as possible. Microfiber towels soak up maximum water quickly. Try using a microfiber hair towel while you do another part of your routine to reduce heat on your hair. This will reduce the damage done by blow drying. If you need to blow dry, use a heat-protectant product. The same goes for styling; use low heat and a heat protectant if you need to style your hair.

If you want to try heat alternatives, hair wraps can help you achieve heatless curls, a Dyson airwrap, or braiding your hair when it is damp and letting it dry for waves. Pinning up hair and doing sleek ponytails or cute buns are another way to save time and effort and achieve a heatless style.

Repair Damaged Hair

Hair masks and deep conditioners are damaged hair's best friend. They add moisture, help tame frizz, and repair damaged hair. Between a ton of amazing natural hair care products from L’anza and All Nutrient, there are so many DIY hair masks you can make at home. These include coconut oil, avocados, egg whites, and other conditioning ingredients.

If you don’t want to make your own DIY mask and your hair needs something to help with damage, try using conditioner before shampoo and reducing the temperature of your shower water. This will help lock in moisture without stripping your hair of its natural oils while you shampoo. After you rinse your shampoo, you can apply a leave-in conditioner or condition it regularly. After your shower, try using a nourishing leave-in spray to help your hair from becoming dried out and brittle.

Come into HAIRitage for a deep conditioning treatment or advice on products and routines tailored to your hair's needs.

TESTIMONIALS

I am so excited to have such a professional salon in Prescott! Just blocks from my home! I had Kathy cut my hair for the first time today. Usually, I come home from getting a haircut and I run into the bathroom to fix it before my husband sees it. I walk in the door today and he is in the other room... he says, how'd it go? I said, "I love her!" I never fixed my hair all day. She is an artist with her scissors and gave me the best haircut I've ever gotten. Such a stress reliever to know that I can go to the Hairitage and get the best professional results just down the road for both my husband and myself. Thank you, Kathy! Prescott is blessed with this professional service in our backyards!
