Have you already started to turn your thermostat up and start wearing your winter gear? It’s the start of another season so that means time to switch up routines, including hair care. During winter, the air has less moisture causing your hair to dry out. At HAIRitage, we know this can be stressful due to all of the time, effort, and money we spend on our hair. These hair-saving hacks will be your best friend this winter.
Wash Hair Less
People tend to think that not washing your hair leaves hair looking greasy. Skipping a wash in the winter is okay because those natural oils protect hair from becoming brittle, dry, and damaged. Try using a sparse amount of dry shampoo to help with volume and oil control and then make sure to use a serum or hair oil to make sure the ends of your hair don’t dry out from the dry shampoo.
A tip that might help your hair from drying out from shampoo is to condition the bottom of your hair first with cool water. Then shampoo your scalp and let the water rinse the shampoo through your ends. Then use a deep, hydrating conditioner or a quality leave in conditioner and towel dry your hair. By towel drying, you are using less heat on your strands and preventing more moisture damage.
Products
Oils:
Hair serums and oils are a great way to prevent hair moisture loss. You can find serums, dry oils, and oil in our products online. Using these products sparingly goes a long way. Make sure to massage them into the ends of your hair. It is also an added bonus if they are heat protecting for blow-drying and styling.
Conditioners:
This is a great time of year to deep condition your hair. Winter is a great time to do some self-care, as well as doing hair repair treatments, deep conditioning, and treatments in our salon. This will help make sure your hair is shiny, healthy, and not dried out.
Gloss:
If your hair needs a pick-me-up, a clear gloss can help your hair look and feel better. It helps to lock in moisture and boosts shine. This is a great way to help your hair keep its moisture and beauty this winter!
